Who's who - Cllr. Khadim Hussain

Khadim is an engineer by profession with a Post Graduation Diploma in Management. He has worked in private industry as a Project Engineer and Quality Assurance Manager in the engineering and aircraft industry. He facilitated the introduction of Total Quality Management and Investor In People.

Khadim has lived in Keighley since his arrival in the United Kingdom from Pakistan in late 1966. He studied at Bronte High School , Oakbank Grammar School , Keighley College and the University of Huddersfield .

He has served as a Non-Executive Director of the Airedale NHS Primary Care Trust for 6 years. He is a former Board Member of the Capital of Culture Partnership Board and Executive Board. He is a director of Keighley Asian Business Forum and former Governor of Greenhead High School. He is also a Justice of the Peace on the Keighley bench since 1995.

Khadim joined Sangat Community Centre in 1996 as a Centre Manager. In July 2003 he became Chief Executive of the Sangat Centre.

At Sangat, Khadim initiated various community based projects to empower the community and to promote equal opportunities. In August 2004 he resigned from Sangat to become District Councillor for Keighley Central Ward.

Khadim currently works for the Faith and Social Cohesion Unit at the Charity Commission as a Regional Outreach Manager.
